THURSDAY, AUGUST 31 LAWYERS FILE MOTION TO KEEP PRO-LIFER FREE FOR NOW  Lawyers for pro-life advocate Lauren Handy filed an emergency motion Wednesday to release her from prison while she awaits sentencing under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Handy’s defense rested in part on the fact that she had acted to prevent the violence of infanticide, given that abortionist Dr. Cesare Santangelo has stated that he left infants born alive during abortions to die of exposure.  READ ABORTION GROUPS SUE OVER OHIO AMENDMENT LANGUAGE Pro-abortion activists are suing Ohio ballot officials for adopting the term “unborn child” in the new official language for a ballot measure that could make abortion a constitutional right in November. The ballot’s language states that Issue 1 would grant a pregnant woman’s physician “the authority to determine … whether an unborn child is viable,” and subsequently whether they believe an abortion is necessary for the life of the mother. READ FORMER CLERKS PRAISE JUSTICE THOMAS  More than 100 former law clerks of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas signed an open letter defending his “unimpeachable” integrity and unwavering independence in the face of attacks from leaders on the political left. Thomas, 75, has called himself “decidedly and unapologetically Catholic.”  READ CORNEL WEST BLASTS DEM PARTY  Green Party Presidential Candidate Cornel West this week blasted the Democratic Party for being unwilling to address the concerns of working-class Americans. The “Democratic Party is beyond redemption at this point when it comes to seriously speaking to the needs of poor and working people,” West said.  READ PENTAGON FIDDLED WITH CLIMATE WHILE AFGHANISTAN FELL  Emails show the Pentagon was preoccupied with climate policies during the days of the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that left thousands of Americans and Afghan allies trapped and at the mercy of the Taliban. In “the two weeks between the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on August 15, 2021, and the final U.S. military flight out of Afghanistan on August 30, Pentagon officials were scrambling with the White House to finalize the Department of Defense Climate Adaptation Plan.”  READ NEW CHRISTIAN SCHOOL IN LOUDOUN COUNTY  Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) in Loudon County, VA, has only been open for a week, yet it already boasts an enrollment of over 500 students. CCA Head of School Dr. Sam Botta affirmed his support for parents’ rights. “They’re the primary educators of their children," Botta said. "We just come alongside them. We’re just here to support them."  READ CALIFORNIA SCHOOLS BUCK ATTORNEY GENERAL  Multiple school districts in the area surrounding Sacramento, CA, have resolved to adopt policies supporting parental rights despite a lawsuit that Attorney General Rob Bonta filed against a similar policy. “Every school district in our area is considering such a policy,” said Jonathan Zachreson of the Roseville City School Board. “Bonta’s legal action will not discourage school boards from upholding parental rights.”  READ DENVER AGREES TO PAY OUT TO GEORGE FLOYD PROTESTERS  Last week, Denver became the latest city to award a multi-million-dollar settlement to people who protested the 2020 death of George Floyd, following Philadelphia and New York. The Daily Caller reported Tuesday that Denver “will hand over nearly $5 million to protesters” following last week’s settlement of a class-action lawsuit “that alleged they were selectively targeted for violating curfew.”  READ SHOCKING  The parents and medical professionals that support “transing” children are abusive. Share this video to help raise awareness.  WATCH CHARGES AGAINST McCARRICK DROPPED  On Wednesday, sexual assault charges against former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick were officially dropped after a judge ruled he was not competent to stand trial in a Massachusetts case involving decades-old charges. The case is one of two criminal cases against McCarrick. In April, he was also charged with the sexual assault of a minor in Wisconsin in 1977.  READ CHRISTIAN LAWMAKER FACES TRIAL FOR CITING SCRIPTURE  Finnish lawmaker Päivi Räsänen is on trial this week for “hate speech” and “ethnic agitation” after publicly sharing her biblical, religious views on marriage as between one man and one woman. In the 2019 tweet that landed Räsänen in her current legal troubles, she criticized her denomination for embracing LGBTQ+ ideology, asking how these views could be reconciled with Scripture.  READ 'DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?'  “Listening Church” is a phrase we hear often in the Catholic Church these days.
