FRIDAY, AUGUST 25 TRUMP BOOKED THROUGH GEORGIA JAIL  Former President Trump turned himself in Thursday night at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia after he was charged with 13 counts related to his efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state. The court had set Trump’s bail at $200,000. He was quickly processed and released.  READ FBI OFFICIAL TESTIFIES BEHIND CLOSED DOORS  An FBI official who was involved in the production of the agency’s anti-Catholic memo testified before the House Judiciary Committee in a closed-door meeting Thursday. In July, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified to the committee that the memo was “a single product by a single field office, which as soon as I found out about it, I was aghast and ordered it withdrawn and removed from FBI systems.” It was later revealed that the memo was in fact the work of several agents across multiple FBI field offices. READ TO SURVIVE MAUI FIRE, LOCALS HAD TO DISOBEY STREET CLOSURES  Some survivors of the devastating Maui fire that swept through the town of Lahaina only made it out alive by ignoring road blockades put up by local officials. “The gridlock would have left us there when the firestorm came,” said one survivor. “I would have had to tell my children to jump into the ocean as well and be boiled alive by the flames or we would have just died from smoke inhalation and roasted in the car.”  READ MAJORITY OF WISCONSIN ‘TRANS WOMAN’ INMATES ARE PREDATORS  A little more than half of the men housed in Wisconsin Department of Corrections facilities who identify as “transgender women” have been convicted of at least one count of sexual assault or sexual abuse. The revelation comes from Wisconsin Department of Corrections records obtained by The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project through an April 2022 public records request.  READ ANOTHER MILITARY NOM EXPOSED AS ‘WOKE’  Col. Kareem “Monty” Montague is one of the latest military officials blocked from promotion by Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-AL in order to pressure the administration to reverse a controversial policy that promotes abortions in the military. Montague has in the past stated that he believes a “system of de facto and de jure segregation has created a long standing imbalance in our country,” and that white Americans have an unfair advantage.  READ JUDGE: PARENTS MUST EXPOSE CHILDREN TO ‘PRIDE’  A District Court judge denied Maryland parents’ request Thursday for an order allowing them to opt their children out of instruction using LGBTQ “Pride Storybooks.” Atheist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and other parents had demanded the right to opt out of an LGBTQ book curriculum for pre-K through fifth grades in Montgomery County Public Schools.  READ ATTACKS ON CATHOLICS ENDANGER ALL  Daniel Mark, an orthodox Jew, speaks out strongly against the string of violent attacks on Catholic churches that have been taking place for the last several years. The attacks spiked after the repeal of Roe v. Wade, when pro-abortion groups openly called for violence against Catholics. “Something is terribly wrong, and too few are paying any attention,” writes Mark. “I am Jewish, not Catholic, but I raise my voice now on behalf of those under attack….”  READ TAKE ACTION  The Biden administration just issued a NATIONWIDE MANDATE to force employers to accommodate employee abortions. The more comments, the less likely we’ll see this mandate implemented in its current, horrible form.  ACT MICHIGAN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS APPEAL FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM  Two Christian organizations in Michigan appealed to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals this week, challenging Michigan laws that require Christian employers to hire individuals who hold opposing values. The Michigan Supreme Court ruled last year that refusing service or employment to an individual because of sexual orientation or “gender identity” constitutes illegal sex-based discrimination.  READ CARDINAL BURKE BLASTS ‘SYNODAL WAY’  In his foreword to a new book criticizing the possibly damaging ramifications of the upcoming October 2023 Synod on Synodality, Cardinal Raymond Burke decried the process as a threat to the Mystical Body of Christ. The “ideology” of “synodality” has already spread “confusion and error and their fruit, division—indeed schism—to the grave harm of many souls” in Germany, Burke wrote.  READ EMBRACING THE MELANCHOLIC TEMPERAMENT  Of the four temperaments, the melancholic is often viewed as burdensome for its tendency towards perfectionism and feelings of inadequacy.
