BREAKING: The State of Texas Just Told Liberals Where They Can Go
The state of Texas already was never exactly a great place to be a liberal, but if a state lawmaker has his way, it’s about to become a whole lot more unfriendly.
Drew Springer, a state representative, has introduced a bill that would outlaw gun-free zones in the Lone Star State.
Springer, a Republican, said he was doing it to “advance” the rights of the 826,000 Texans who hold a concealed-carry license. And, as he points out, the law would only affect “responsible, law-abiding citizens,” as they’re the only ones who would respect gun-free zones in the first place.
The legislation is predictably not supported by Democrats, most of whom would ban water guns if they could.
Eric Johnson, a Democrat state representative, had an odd reason for going against the bill, envisioning a situation where “a victim of gun violence (has) to enter a hospital where people could be openly carrying handguns.”

“Maybe (gun violence victims) don’t want to see a waiting room full of people openly carrying firearms,” Johnson said.
Well, that’s a good reason to oppose the law. Support gunshot-wound victim rights!
But it’s also not a terribly relevant one, as Springer said that he’s open to creating an exemption for hospitals.
Molly White, another Republican in the state legislature, said that the concern shouldn’t be about people’s reactions to firearms, but the God-given rights of the people carrying them.
“What I’m concerned about … is why we would oppose someone’s right to carry,” White said (H/T Breitbart).
Of course, Democrats will always oppose someone’s right to carry, because they only want the government to have guns.
However, as Rep. Springer pointed out, this legislation only affects law-abiding citizens. The kinds of people who would use their guns to do harm are the types of people who would just ignore gun-free zones anyhow.
So, way to go, Texas! You’ve struck another blow in defense of self-defense. You’re our kind of state, and exactly the sort of state liberals ought to avoid.
