Pope Francis: Gender Theory a 'Troubling' Trend

On Thursday, Pope Francis continued his fight against gender theory, saying it stems from "the rise of ideologies that directly attack the family project."
Meeting with John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family declared gender theory "contradicts the plan of God, who has entrusted the world and history to the alliance between man and woman."
The Roman Pontiff said it creates an "uncertainty and disorientation that affect the fundamental affections of the person" that ultimately can "destabilize all familial and societal ties."
To combat the ideology, the Holy Father stated that societies need to recognize sexual differences "as a richness and a promise, not as a reason of subjection and abuse."
"At the current juncture, marital and family ties are tested in many ways," he said. "The recognition of the dignity of man and woman involves a correct appreciation of their mutual relationship."
Pope Francis lamented that he also finds it very troubling "that now this culture seems controlled by a trend to obliterate these differences rather than resolving the problems that assail them."
Throughout his pontificate, Francis has stood firmly against same-sex marriage and also gender theory, which has been manifesting itself in the West through the acceptance of transgenderism, even calling it "terrible" for being pushed on children through education.
Amidst the consistent denunciation of such practices, LGBT activists have grown much more wary of Pope Francis in recent months, with many calling him "out of touch" while pandering to "right-wing extremists who have sought to prevent trans people from using bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity," according to Nico Lang at Salon
