Vince McMahon Announces New Football League That Will Have Nothing to Do With Politics

Capitalizing on the failing National Football League, which has chosen to prioritize social justice virtue-signaling over its fans and viewers, WWE CEO Vince McMahon announced in a press conference on Thursday that he is reviving the XFL in 2020.
The XFL (the X never did stand for anything) existed for one season only in 2001. It was a joint venture of NBC and what is now known as the WWE. For various reasons, the league collapsed quickly due to poor ratings; McMahon himself called it "a colossal failure," but this revived version may benefit from the experience and from fan hunger for an alternative to an increasingly off-putting NFL.
Breitbart reports that McMahon said the XFL will be a “re-imagined” football game with eight teams, with the locations to be determined. He added that the league will differ from the NFL with safety issues, fewer rules, including a sped-up game, and an emphasis on getting back to sports and entertainment over politics.
“We’re here to play football,” McMahon told reporters in a live stream on Periscope, adding that the new league will have “nothing” to do with politics or social issues.
Not only that, but the league will not allow any player with a criminal record, and XFL players will be required to stand for the playing of the National Anthem. McMahon told ESPN that players in the league will not be given a platform to make a personal political statement while on the field.
“It’s a time-honored tradition to stand,” he said Thursday. “I think it would be appropriate to do that.”
