Rabbi Shmuel Salant was the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem for 70 years. Rabbi Salant founded the Rabbi Meir Baal Haneis Salant charity in 1860, championing the cause of the poor and forgotten, the sick and impoverished, the widows and orphans, helping them survive challenging times. Rabbi Salant helped everyone without distinction. Ashkenazi and Sephardi, scholar and simpleton. If they were poor, if they were hungry, he made sure to feed, clothe and shelter them. Rabbi Shmuel Salant passed away in 1909 but his legacy is alive and well. The miracle working charity Rabbi Meir Baal Haneis Salant has continued his righteous work until this very day; Be it food packages, clothing vouchers, rent subsidies, bridal dowries and much more, Rabbi Meir Baal Haneis Salant is there to bring miracles to Israel’s most destitute and deserving. Before his passing, Rabbi Salant pledged that "All who will support the Rabbi Meir Baal Haneis Salant charity will merit heavenly blessings and divine mercy." The remarkable power of this sacred charity is immensely powerful and potent. Legends abound of men, women, and children, who during a personal calamity experienced miraculous help when they gave charity to Rabbi Meir Baal HaNeis Salant. |
