Campus Reform descended on the Democratic National Convention to speak with the disgruntled supporters of Bernie Sanders to see if they're going to toe the Democratic line now that Hillary Clinton is the official nominee. Surprisingly, these chanters of, "Hell no, DNC, we won't vote for Hillary" are sticking to their #NeverHillary guns and jumping ship to vote Donald Trump.
"I was strong for Bernie, and now I'm taking the stand for Trump," one protester said.
"If I had to vote for Trump or Hillary, I'd pick Trump," said another Bernie fan.
It was made clear that this sentiment is spreading because of the fallout from the convention. Sanders supporters are looking to buck the establishment and ensure that Clinton loses the election and Trump is looking to be a good option for them.
"I'm going to use all of my time and energy to make sure Hillary doesn't win," said a man confident others are going to do the same. Several in the video echo this passion.
Their frustration has boiled over, feeling their voices haven't been heard and has spurred many to announce they're leaving the Democratic Party. Some of them say it was conversations with Trump supporters that helped make up their minds:
"As I spend time talking to Trump supporters, we agree on a lot of major issues that we're facing in this country. We're both mad about the same things."
From the moment she announced her candidacy, it was almost an unstated expectation that female Democrats have to vote for Hillary, but the ladies interviewed in this video made it clear they don't buy Hillary as pro-women.
"She is a con artist," one said.
"She is not a feminist. She is not fighting for women. She never has and she never will," said another.
The divide is strong after the DNC and could have a major impact on the election. Bernie's fans are not giving up without a fight and it appears they're willing to do the unheard of to stop the woman they believe stole the election from them.
The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
