The new feminist Ghostbusters remake has largely been labeled a box office bomb, dropping all the way down to #5 on its second weekend in the U.S. after debuting at #2 on opening weekend, so it's fitting that the film would endorse Queen Hillary for President on social media.
Shortly after Hillary Clinton became the Presidential nominee at this year's DNC, the Ghostbusters social media team felt it appropriate to continue their (commercially disastrous) social justice agenda by tweeting: "Boo-yah, we smashed your glass ceiling. There was a ghost behind it!"
After suffering huge financial losses from insulting half their audience by labeling them "nerds in their parents basement," the Ghostbusters crew still hasn't learned that social justice doesn't sell tickets.
As noted by Breitbart of the film's financial failure:
It took two weekends to know for sure, but Sony/Village Roadshow’s female-led Ghostbustersreboot bombed hard in its second weekend, taking in $6.2M on Friday (-63%) for an estimated three-day of $21 million and a total drop of around 55 percent. If estimates hold, that would putGhostbusters‘ ten-day total at around $86 million, a disastrous result given the film’s $250 million price tag (after marketing costs).
For the Ghostbusters to be considered a financial success, experts estimate the film needs to pull in as much as $350 million minimum.
