An adult expo scheduled in Houston next month is having a hard time finding venues after two major hotels canceled their contracts.
Originally set to take place on August 17-20 at the Hilton Houston Galleria Area Hotel, the TEXXXAS Expo found itself scrambling for venues last week when the Hilton's parent company Hilton Worldwide canceled its contract after being contacted by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE).
Following the cancelation, the NCOSE phoned all major hotels in the area, advising them to refuse the TEXXXAS Expo for not only moral reasons, but also the potential for sex-trafficking.
"This event will attract a largely male audience that is desensitized to exchanging money for sexual experiences," said the NCOSE. "Therefore, we expect an uptick in the demand for prostitution, and ergo sex trafficking, of women and children in the area."
"[We] hope that both Hilton and Holiday Inn will codify these decisions with brand-wide policies to not host sexually exploitive conferences or events of any kind, and that the entire hotel industry will follow their lead to value guest safety and dignity above mere profits."
Hilton decision to refuse the TEXXXAS Expo follows the company's previous decision to cease providing porn in their hotel rooms alongside Marriott Hotels, Hyatt Hotel Corporation, and IHG.
Marriott has maintained their porn cancelation stemmed from economic reasons since porn patrons can easily access it on their computer, which made pay-per-view porn a wasted expense.
