UPDATE: Fox News Channel is reporting the victims were members of an elite gang force. The shooting occurred during a traffic stop.
The San Diego Police twitter feed is reporting that one police officer has died, another is in surgery.
One officer was shot multiple times.
The suspect has not been identified.

Two San Diego police officers were shot on Thursday night in the Southcrest neighborhood and one suspect is in custody.
Law enforcement officers were searching for other suspects. Residents were told to shelter in place. The two officers were taken to the hospital.
The shooting occurred at 11pm at Acacia Grove Way near 36th Street.
San Diego authorities will hold a press conference at 7amET.
