Shabbat Inspiration

The gifts and tithes brought to the Temple and presented to the priests and Levites are examples of commandments that apply only in the Land of Israel. A portion of the crops grown in the land is dedicated to the Creator before we eat from them ourselves, to remind us that no matter how hard we work the land, and despite the tremendous human effort required to produce it, our produce is really a gift from God.  Additionally, gifts are given to the religious leaders of Israel to provide physical sustenance in exchange for the spiritual sustenance they offer the people. Since they have no portion of land of their own, the priests and Levites are dependent on the rest of the nation for their physical nourishment. Yet, their contribution elevates everyone else’s existence in the land. Such is life in the Land of Israel – the physical and spiritual are continuously intertwined. Now is the time to uplift your spirit with the taste of Israel's bounty by enjoying 100% authentic honey from the Land of Israel just in time for Rosh Hashana!

Not Just Another Scenario 2

The prophet Zachariah spoke about "A day of the Lord" during which Jerusalem would be ravaged, mountains would split and streams would flow uphill. What this prophecy tells us is that the times of the Messiah will be filled with strange natural disasters and events that we can neither anticipate nor understand. Pinchas Winston's book is an attempt to peek behind that curtain of prophecy and show us what a real-life apocalypse might look like in today's world.
