Presidential candidate Donald Trump predicts that the GOP will become the "worker's party" under his watch.
In an interview with Joshua Green of Bloomberg Businessweek under the headline, "How to Get Trump Elected When He’s Wrecking Everything You Built," Trump expanded what the GOP future looks like under him, promising a broader party with populist sentiments that embraces certain social programs the GOP has long criticized such as Social Security.
"Five, ten years from now — different party. You’re going to have a worker’s party," Trump said. "A party of people that haven’t had a real wage increase in 18 years, that are angry."
Trump also stated that doing away with Social Security would be a "big mistake" for the GOP, emphasizing that "[c]utting it the wrong way is a big mistake, and even cutting it [at all]."
"My views are what everybody else’s views are," the real-estate mogul said. "When I give speeches, sometimes I’ll sign autographs and I’ll get to talk to people and learn a lot about the party."
Putting aside differences, Trump expressed appreciation for RNC chairman Reince Priebus, calling him a great peacemaker.
"I call Reince Mr. Switzerland," Trump said. "He’s doing a great job as peacemaker."
The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
