With
Congress in recess, AIPAC activists across the country are participating in town
hall meetings and caucuses to discuss our concerns with the proposed Iran
nuclear deal. I am continually inspired by the proud work of AIPAC members like
you who cogently, assertively and respectfully make our case for a better
deal.
These meetings offer us an extremely important opportunity to
engage members of Congress about the dangers of this deal. As such, it is
critical that we continue to conduct ourselves with humility, respect and a keen
focus on the issues.
This debate has fueled great passion and energy. As
is always the case, we must remain respectful of all those in the conversation
and of the viewpoints that may differ from ours.
Furthermore, we
fervently believe that the winning argument will be made by those who possess
and articulate the facts — not by those who shout the loudest or resort to
personal attacks.
Each of us meeting with members of Congress represents
not only ourselves and our communities, but also the entire American pro-Israel
movement. As such, we bear a special responsibility to conduct ourselves
respectfully and responsibly.
As we have always said — and continue to
reiterate — there is no room in this discussion for ad hominem attacks. The
debate must remain about policy, not personality.
Thank you for your work
with AIPAC to engage your members of Congress, and for your commitment to
ensuring a safer future.
Sincerely,
 Robert
A. Cohen AIPAC President
