In response to the nation's vain quest to seek God with more offerings and
sacrifices, Micah replies with the most sublime verse of his book, linking piety
with righteousness and kindness to others. Rites and rituals are
important, but only when accompanied with moral and ethical behavior. This
verse is considered so significant that it is inscribed in the Library of
Congress in Washington D.C. An Israeli non-profit, Karmey Chesed ("Vineyards of
Kindness") has made its mission to take active steps to put these lofty
principals into practice. Their dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to provide
destitute Israeli families with both their physical and emotional needs,
including food baskets, emergency medicine, secondhand clothing and furniture,
and more.
