One of Solomon's goals in building the Temple was that the non-Jews of the world also come to recognize the greatness and oneness of God, His reputation was renowned throughout the ancient world, and he succeeded in his mission of spreading recognition of God as evidenced by the visit of the queen of Sheba. She was so impressed with Solomon and his kingdom, and declared “Blessed be the LORD thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on His throne, to be king for the LORD thy God” (verse 8). The nation of Israel continues to be charged with the same mission of spreading God's name and His greatness throughout the world.
