Well, it's over. After a 25-hour ordeal (read: sitting on the carpet, pausing for donut and Chick-Fil-A breaks, and posturing as civil rights activists), House Democrats walked out onto the Capital steps and declared victory on gun control. What that victory is, no one knows.
Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) greeted the cheering crowd that gathered, telling them, "Thank you for all your support."
"Don't give up, don't give in," he added, not noting the irony of the situation. "Keep the faith. Keep your eyes on the prize."
When the sit-in began on Wednesday, Lewis had said, "We have been quiet for too long." Now, apparently, he's tired of sitting and is ready to go home. Let it be said that when it comes to gun violence and sit-ins, when Democrats say "Enough is enough," they're referring to being personally inconvenienced.
During the occupation, House Speaker Paul Ryan attempted to reconvene the session on Wednesday evening to call a vote on another matter, and was met with shouts of "no bill, no break":
Now that it's over, another favored tactic of the Left is stirring: social media activism. The Huffington Post is recommended everyone rush to their Facebook pages and demand action, because "#EnoughIsEnough."
