Season Six of Showtime's hit drama 'Homeland' will have a "renewed focus" on Washington D.C. and a female president to boot.
The Showtime drama has cast actress Elizabeth Marvel as the president — well, sort of. She'll play president-elect Elizabeth Keane, a former junior senator who's yet to be inaugurated when the action picks up during the sixth season. Described as "bright, charming, lively and blunt," it's the first new character addition for the forthcoming season.
The announcement follows Hillary Clinton's nomination on Tuesday night of the DNC.
If Elizabeth Marvel looks familiar, you might recognize her from Netflix's "House of Cards" where she played presidential candidate Heather Dunbar.
Production of Homeland will begin in August and is expected to premiere in early 2017.
