Illinois Police Officer Shot, Seriously Wounded During Car Chase

A manhunt is still underway in Carbondale, Illinois after a police officer was shot and seriously wounded during a high speed police chase.
As the officers were headed to the scene, they found a tan, four-door vehicle, driving away from the area at a high rate of speed.The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the drivers would not come to a halt, resulting in a police chase.
During the chase, the suspect fired multiple gunshots at the police, hitting the police car and one of the police officers.
The officer was seriously wounded, and taken to Memorial Hospital but had to be transferred to a hospital in St. Louis for further treatment.
Illinois law enforcement are still investigating the incident and searching for the suspect.
