Superstar Black Lives Matter supporter Beyoncé may have brought home an armload of awards from last night's Video Music Awards program, but as former mayor Rudy Giuliani noted Monday morning on Fox & Friends, he “saved more black lives than any of those people you saw onstage.”
As reported by Mediaite, Giuliani and the hosts were discussing how Beyoncé used her performance on the show as an opportunity to push her repugnant anti-cop message. Ainsley Earhardt pointed out how the pop star invited the Mothers of the Movement as her honorary guests, and that her segment began by depicting her backup dancers as angelic figures shot dead one at a time by cops.
“I ran the largest and best police department in the world, the New York City Police Department,” Giuliani declared. “I saved more black lives than any of those people you saw on stage by reducing crime and especially homicide.”
From Mediaite:
Giuliani went on to tout his police record some more, and say that his mayorship was responsible for the betterment of several major boroughs of New York. He also bashed social figures and politicians who comment on police brutality incidents. He said that officials refuse to do anything to help troubled African-American inner city communities.
Brian Kilmeade noted that Beyonce pushing her anti-cop message at such a high-profile event is very influential, and Giuliani called it “a shame.”
Giuliani has criticized Beyonce for politically-charged performances in the past, particularly her Super Bowl halftime show, which he described as an “outrageous” attack on the police.
His entire segment is worth watching, but the discussion of Beyonce begins at about the 5:05 mark in the video above.
