ISAIAH (40:2)

Shabbat Inspiration

This Shabbat, the Shabbat after the ninth of Av, is called Shabbat Na-cha-mu, the Shabbat of Comfort during which we read the first of seven readings of comfort from the Book of Isaiah. These special prophetic readings are meant to reiterate the promise that God has not forsaken His people.  Here is an interesting historical fact. In 1920, following the Balfour Declaration and the start of British Palestine, Sir Herbert Samuel was appointed as the first British High Commissioner of Palestine. On Shabbat Nachamu of that year, he arrived at the Churva Synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem and read this special Torah portion.  For those present, it truly felt like the start of the redemption!

Shame on the BBC

In yet another attempt by anti-Israel media to sow tension in the Holy Land, one of the world’s oldest news outlets is accusing Israel of purposefully dividing Jerusalem against Palestinians.

“Enjoying the Articles on Jerusalem365

It’s great to hear from you and make new friends from all over the world. Please send me an email and let me know how you are enjoying Jerusalem365 (don’t forget to say where you are from!).
I am enjoying reading the articles on Jerusalem365.  I can relate to some of them as I have had the honor of being able to visit Israel on two occasions.  I love Israel and the Jewish people.  These are God's chosen people and Israel is God's favorite land and he gave it to the Jewish people thousands of years ago and it is to remain in the hands of the Jewish people.  And furthermore Jerusalem is the capital and is to remain so, not to be divided by any man.  Evelyn Sellers, Newport, TN.
