General Assembly: New Global Goals for Sustainable
Development |

The
international community gathered at the UN this week for the General Assembly
and to adopt the new global goals for sustainable development -- the world's
to-do list to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and stop
environmental destruction and the threat of climate change.

Summit on Peacekeeping
Standing
before more than 50 world leaders asked to make their own new commitments to
peacekeeping, President Obama announced on Monday that the U.S. would enhance
troop commitments, training, and logistical support, as well as equipment to
defend against armed rebel groups in ungoverned spaces.
