Rush Limbaugh has signed a contract extension that will see him continue in his hugely popular daytime talk show spot for another four years. El Rushbo, as he is often called, says he considered hanging up the headset and microphone after 28 years but was convinced to stay on.
"After 28 fulfilling years, I seriously considered moving on to something else, but Rich and Bob were very persuasive," Limbaugh said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to be continuing. And I really want to be on the air if the Russians find Hillary's emails."
Speaking on his program Tuesday, Limbaugh said his show remains a labor of love.
"And it went back and forth in a whole bunch of different ways with a bunch of different input and a lot of soul-searching. It's been 28 years -- we're starting our 29th now -- and I don't do this for any reason other than I love it," Limbaugh said.
Premiere Networks, the company that syndicates Limbaugh's show to more than 600 stations across America, said that his ratings have been up in key demographics and key markets across the country, as have ad sales.
