Shabbat Inspiration

In the beginning of this week's Torah portion, Moses gathers the Children of Israel and promises them that because they have kept God's commandments in the desert, God will keep His covenant with them. He will bless them and multiply them and grant them success in the Land of Israel. The Hebrew word for "because" in this verse, 'eikev', is the same Hebrew word for heel. According to the sages, the use of the word 'eikev'  hints to the fact that all the commandments must be kept equally, even the ones that seem unimportant, the ones that people tend to figuratively walk on with their heels. If they are careful to follow all the commandments of God, even the seemingly insignificant ones, then the covenant will be kept, and they will certainly be rewarded with great blessings in the Promised Land.

Fighting Media Bias: Israelis Stand Against Hatred

HonestReporting, which defends Israel against worldwide media bias, reports on a recent opinion editorial in the New York Times by famed Israeli author Etgar Keret. In the editorial, Keret claims that Israelis no longer care about justice because a Tel Aviv rally protesting recent violence in Israel was poorly attended-- but the editorial left out all the facts!

Christian Tourist Beaten by Palestinin Mob on the Temple Mount and Then Arrested

On Tuesday, a deeply disturbing attack occurred on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. A Christian tourist from France was attacked by Muslims, struck in the head by a rock, drawing blood. While he was lying on the ground being beaten, one of the attackers tried to rob him. His offense? Waving an Israeli flag.
