Today's verse refers to Mordechai from the Book of Esther, hero of the
Purim story. We are introduced to Mordechai as a Jew in exile; that was how he
defined himself, bereft of his homeland. Just ten years ago, thousands of Jews
were evacuated from the area of Gush Katif. These Jews have yet to fully pick
up the pieces of their lives, and remain, to this day, the Gush Katif
evacuees. They remember the unique beauty of their homes and mourn their loss.
Tina Nagar, a former resident of Gush Katif, took a series of beautiful photos
of her garden while living there and crafted them into a one-of-a-kind set of
Biblical greeting cards in order to celebrate the treasured memories of her lost
home.
